Sobriety

My Journey
In March, I celebrated 10 years of sobriety- a milestone that still feels surreal. A decade ago, my life revolved around alcohol. I was drowning in it, using it to numb deep-rooted pain I didn’t fully understand and to be honest, I’m still working through those feelings. The battle to get sober wasn’t easy. In fact, it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. But it saved my life. This blog is my way of honoring that promise, sharing the truth of what it means to start over, and reaching out to anyone who needs to hear that healing is possible, even when it feels impossible.
Through the Darkness
I started this path at my lowest— stripped of everything familiar, pacing sterile hallways in an inpatient detox facility, numb and broken. What followed was a choice that didn’t feel like a choice at all: go home and risk everything, or fight for my life in an outpatient rehab program. I chose to fight. Those weeks cracked me open, exposing both my pain and my strength. One day, someone I met in the program looked at me and said, “You won’t be back here”— words that haunted and healed me all at once. Recovery wasn’t clean or easy. Coming home sober felt like learning to live all over again. The smallest tasks were mountains. But every “just water, thank you” was a quiet rebellion—a promise to myself that I wouldn’t go back.
Ten Years Later
A decade into sobriety, I’m still evolving. Sobriety hasn’t made life easier—it’s made me stronger. I’ve learned to sit with discomfort, and to power through moments that once felt unbearable. What began as a battle to quit alcohol has become a journey of rebuilding. It’s taught me that healing is less about perfection and more about persistence. Strength comes from facing pain, resilience is born in fear, and purpose often grows from the very struggles we once tried to escape.
To Anyone on This Path
If you’re walking this road, know this: it’s wildly hard, but it’s also worth it. The moments when you feel like breaking are often the ones where something inside you is being rebuilt. Lean into the discomfort, because health & freedom lives on the other side of it. Sobriety didn’t just give me my life back—it gave me something deeper than I ever expected: hope. And that hope keeps growing, even now. Here’s to ten years and to my wild, beautiful, life still unfolding.
